Preamble

To promote flexibility in the curriculum framework and interdisciplinary/ multidisciplinary academic mobility of the students across the Higher Education Institutes in the country with appropriate Credit Transfer mechanism in compliance with NEP 2020, UGC has notified the set regulations titled UGC (Establishment and Operationalization of Academic Bank of Credits Scheme in Higher education) Regulations 2021.
To keep the spirit of education high with proper mechanism developed for students’ mobility and credit transfer, NEFTU aims to achieve pinnacle by embracing the credit transfer system defined by ABC.

Policy Statement

The university supports the initiative of ABC towards transferability of academic credits between HEIs through a centralized system that recognizes the credits earned and articulates them through a course-to-course credit transfer equivalency. Hence, NEFTU shall have a defined mechanism to scrutinize and assess the credit transfer process based on the guidelines and regulations mentioned by statutory bodies.

Purpose

This Policy seeks to provide a procedure and outline for recognition of prior learning from previous HEIs (UGC recognized) and courses/subjects, which are found equivalent with (learning objectives, learning outcomes, and course module contents upto a minimum of 70%) programs offered at North East Frontier Technical University.

A. Conditions Eligibility and Duration

North East Frontier Technical University supports the continuation of learning, which should enable a student to gain the qualification in minimal time provided they meet all minimum standard and requirements prescribed by statutory bodies.

1. Conditions for credit transfer requested by a student:

a) Course work has been completed at an UGC recognized university/institution through full time formal learning mode.

b) The course prescribes a common minimum syllabus under UGC CBCS system.

c) The letter grade obtained from parent or previous studied university is “D” or above.

d) Credit Transfer or Credit Exemption shall be considered provided the institutions/universities in which the students have studied earlier, practice the system of course credits.

e) Credit Transfer or Credit Exemption for individual courses shall be considered, provided such courses have already been successfully completed in UGC recognized universities/institutions.

f) Credit Transfer or Exemption shall not be considered if the maximum marks prescribed for a Course in the previous institution are less than 100.

g) Credit transfer will be permissible in the case of students coming from institutions established by an Act of Parliament or by an Act of State Legislature; or an institution Deemed to be University, or an Institution of National Importance recognized by UGC.

h) NEFTU shall be granting credit transfer on a case-by-case basis when the content and standard of a subject and learning outcomes are identical with, or similar to, that of a prescribed subject for which credit is being s ought. Please refer to the ‘Purpose’ above.

i) The credit transfer scheme is also applicable to those candidates who have not completed their Graduation from any other recognized university but are willing to complete it from NEFTU.

j) If there is no major change in the syllabus (less than 40%), credit transfer will be permissible. Please refer to the
‘Purpose’ above.

k) Credit transfer will be applicable only from a graduate degree to a graduate degree and postgraduate to post graduate degree respectively.

Admission to a student under credit transfer

Under the credit transfer scheme of the university, a student can apply for transfer of credits from his/her parent institution as per conditions and eligibility norms, in 2nd year or 3rd year or 4th year or 5th year as the case maybe for the specified programme.

The following process shall be adopted for the admission of a student under the credit transfer scheme:

1. Transfer of credits to the university shall be applied through the university online portal.

2. An application processing fee (non-refundable) as prescribed, shall be paid online or through bank transfer.

3. No request for branch/discipline change shall be considered. Such request shall be summarily rejected.

4. Upon receipt of the application form and all required documents, the same shall be verified and forwarded to the equivalence committee for evaluation of syllabus, course and credit mapping.

5. If recommended by the equivalence committee, admission of the student shall be initiated.

6. The student shall be supplied with an approval letter indicating the confirmation of admission

✓ Migration from previous University (Original) – after Admission confirmation & receive APPROVAL LETTER from North East Frontier Technical University

✓ Original Mark sheets (Marks Transcript) or all semesters/years of previous college/university

✓ Self-attested photocopy of class 10th Mark sheet for proof of Date of Birth

✓ Self-attested Photocopy of class 12th Mark Sheet / Mark Sheet of Qualifying Examination

✓ Valid ID Proof & photos

✓ Candidates should submit Photocopy of the Teaching Scheme and Syllabus of all the studied subjects and semesters of the parent University.

✓ Grade , Grade point and corresponding marks chart should be submitted with online application form

✓ Copy of the fee receipt for processing application

✓ Training/Internship Certificate (if any)

✓ ABC ID as mentioned in the online application.

✓ An affidavit (on a RS 50 stamp paper) indicating the genuineness of all the documents submitted.

Credit assessor draft credit assessment report based on following factors
  1. The objectives, learning outcomes and standards of module/unit contents 70% similar to North East Frontier Technical University programme course content.
  2. The duration of the Graduation course
  3. Course learning outcome Assessment methods, grades, and marks
  4. Practical training and work experience as part of the Graduation course, where relevant

Score system, Examinations and Degree format

The scoring methodology in all the examinations of the university shall follow the norms prescribed by the Controller of Examinations and related regulations of the university. The format of degree with related details shall be adopted as per templates prescribed by Academic Bank of Credits.

Fee and other details

The fee structure of the university shall specify the details of heads under which fee to be paid by a student for seeking credit transfer.

Rights of the university
  1. This policy is subject to change/modification based on rules and regulations prescribed by UGC and other statutory bodies time-to-time.
  2. University reserves the right to change/modify any of the clause(s) based on the requirement and/or situation.
  3. If, after admission of a student as per aforesaid provisions, it is found at any time, that the
    document(s) submitted by him/her are not true or are false, such admission shall be cancelled and no fee shall be refunded.
